Yes, it was a great hike. I wasn’t sure what I’d find because this was my first walk on Madeira. It’s a fantastic place.

Great hike. The stairways and steps quite incredible. this walk would keep my mind buzzing with thoughts the entire way. Nice.

I could have done with a guide on my last day, John, which turned out to be a bit of a disaster. Just writing it up now ??? but the memory is still painful. Didn’t get round to using the public transport, but I had reports that it was an interesting experience. I might try it on my next visit ??? but that might be many years in the future.

Loved this post since it brought back some great memories of the couple of visits we’ve had to Madeira. But I might as well confess here and now that we went with a guide on the majority of the walks. We did a couple of Levada walks on our own but generally speaking the biggest “risk” we took was using public transport!………..J

The trouble with going abroad is that after a while you get a yearning for one of those days when the clouds are right down to the telegraph poles, everything is dripping wet and there are midges buzzing in your ears and eyes. But it???s only a minor yearning and it soon passes. I think alcohol has something to do with the dreams, Scott. Everyone has to have a weakness.

Alen, interesting post. Look like a good place to walk when the weather back home is poor. Good job there wasn’t low cloud, or there would have been a “Misty Mountain Hop” and a Battle of Evermore” to find you way back down :)

Ah, now if you’d said that you’d had the bananas and cheese the previous evening, that would have explained the weird dreams.
Thoroughly enjoyed that. It’s easy, when you never go abroad(!), to get a bit precious about how great Scotland’s scenery is. Other bits of the world aren’t too shabby either.

Thanks Alex. Glasgow sounds quite appealing. Somewhere a little less stressful like one of those Scottish islands where the plane lands on the beach would suit me fine. I don’t think EasyJet do that though.
